11月24日，东莞市寮步镇一家工厂车间内，一位工人在已经完成了“机器换人”的厂房内巡视。

24岁的祁进源，数控专业毕业，现在是一家机器人工厂的CNC前段主管，他负责的机器共136台，只需要10个人操作，而之前的机器则需要60人。

广东智博会上，一家专门制作机器人零件的外资公司展厅内，二楼的谈判室走马灯似地换着人。今年实体经济不景气，不少企业在购买器材上显得很谨慎。

连经理边玩手机边守着自己的货物。他的小作坊生产鞋底，由于不少制鞋企业搬迁或者倒闭，生意大不如前。

厚街治安队的成员大刘正在一家倒闭的工厂外睡觉。工厂关门后，不少人跑来偷东西，他只能和同事在门口看着。

11月23日，备受瞩目的首届世界机器人大会在雪后的北京举办。与此同时，在温暖的南方，首届广东国际机器人及智能装备博览会也在谋求转型的东莞闭幕。
在中国逐渐成为全球最主要工业机器人市场的背景下，那些正在从“制造”向“智造”转型的东莞工厂，已经在产业技术升级和人口红利逐渐消失的环境中先行一步。
用工荒加速了东莞机器人市场的繁荣。
“以前春节过后，东莞很热闹的，街上全是找工作的人，但是这几年不行了，不到正月十五，马路上是没有人的。最困难的时候，用工缺口能达到30%。”东莞唯一一家国家智能制造示范点企业的总裁办主任曹豪杰说，“现在用上机器人后，这些问题就得到了解决。12月开工的智能工厂，200台机器人只需配备20名管理人员。在这之前需要200名工人在车间操作，现在则只需要5名。生产效率提升20%的同时，机器人将运营成本和产品不良率分别降低20%和30%。”
人工成本降低、生产工艺提升和人才结构优化等变化，吸引了越来越多的制造业企业。根据国际机器人联合会(IFR)的统计报告，2013年中国工业机器人市场占全球市场的1/5，2014年则上升到1/4。对工业机器人的迫切需求已经让中国成为最大的机器人消费国。
在机器人慢慢占领工厂的过程中，东莞制造业的人才结构也开始嬗变——低技能、高危险的一线普工岗位需求降低，调试、维护和控制智能装备的技术性人才走俏，这也刺激了更多的产业工人通过转型来提升个人竞争力。
24岁的杨威是一名精雕机前段设备间的主管。他所在的工厂是东莞首家拥有“无人车间”的民营企业，今年8月，这家企业因为“机器人敲钟”挂牌新三板而在业界小有名气。
走进杨威工作的车间，信号灯闪烁的机器人在安静地作业，开料、精雕、清洗等一系列工序在机械手中有条不紊地迅速完成。杨威和他的同事们只需要不时确认机器人工作状态是否良好，一个人就能同时管理18台机器人。“刚进厂时，我在车间当设备维修工，后来工厂引进了机器人，我就成了一名前段操作员。起初特别担心自己会在技术升级中被机器人淘汰，但没想到随着效率的提高和产量的增加，企业的规模也越来越大，作为最早一批操控机器人的技术工，我也从一线工人变成了管理者”，杨威说。
他的同事薛超则是该厂机器人研发团队的成员：“之前一个人只能照顾两台机床，但是现在使用了我们自己生产的机器人之后，一个人可以负责18至20台。如果按照现在的规模来算，一个月就可以节省人力成本上百万元。人工成本的降低就是变相提高了我们的市场竞争力”，薛超掰着指头为记者算账。
在升级版的“东莞制造”中，有的企业破土重生，有的企业却在暗潮中倒下。
11月底的一个中午，东莞市厚街上屯村工业园区的马路上车水马龙，厚街治安队的大刘却在路边树林里的吊床上沉沉睡去。他和另一名同事已经轮流看守身后的“东莞普光”有一个多月的时间了，这家工厂是中韩合资企业，主要生产韩国某品牌的手机液晶屏。
大刘告诉记者，今年6月份这家工厂就停产了，员工也接到放假通知，但是没有拿到工资的员工并没有离开，他们要求发放拖欠的工资。普光并不是2015年东莞唯一一家停工的大型合资企业。2015年10月的长假过后，台资控股的东莞金宝电子厂4个厂区的其中一个厂区以“调整”为由将生产线关停。
今年4月，位于南城区的微软诺基亚通信有限公司东莞分公司的“退出”显得相对平稳。早在2014年7月，微软诺基亚就推出了员工“自愿离职激励计划”，按照劳动法的相关规定给予经济补偿，引导、激励员工自动离职。大约3300名员工已分两批按照这一计划离职，到2015年初所有员工都签订了离职协议。11月底，记者在微软诺基亚东莞分公司的厂房前看到，门前的绿植已经快要覆盖“Microsoft”的标志，除了门口的保安，工厂内已经空无一人。
“在制造业升级的过程中，企业有进有退是一个正常的现象。东莞将近30万家中小企业，不可能每一家都进行机器人的升级改造。东莞制造企业普通工人的平均月工资现在约为600美元，是东南亚国家的两倍以上。人工成本的提高也使得东莞在低端制造业达不到从前的竞争力，所以一定会有一批企业退出或者转移到劳动力更为廉价的东南亚甚至非洲。”曹豪杰说，“这是一个必经的过程，很痛苦，但却有希望。”
在“普光”隔壁的一家鞋厂，30岁的小劳刚刚在这里找到了一份工作。他之前在东莞的一家电机厂做普工。由于效益不好，小劳辞职选择了这家鞋厂，现在每天可以赚到一百元。而同样靠为制鞋企业“打工”的连经理有一个加工鞋底的小作坊，不少周边的制鞋企业搬迁或者倒闭，他的生意也大不如前。坐在成堆的货物前，他一边玩着手机一边对记者说：“这行我做了二十年了，现在这边的鞋厂搬走了一大半，好多也撤资或者倒闭了，明年如果还没有起色，我就退出‘江湖’喽。”
扫黄、用工荒这些标签不足以说明东莞什么，我们还是能看到东莞在不断地更新换代中前进。期待从“世界工厂”到“东莞智造”的东莞成为中国乃至全世界的焦点。
